Digital Media Details

The digital media competition challenges students around the world to use their imagination to create a web video using multiple types of media, like photos, music, video, & voiceover. Your video must be about the Imagine Cup theme to "Imagine a world where technology helps solve the toughest problems". Make your video as interesting, and enticing, as possible so that people want to pass it on, share it, and get the entire world to vote for it. The videos that become the most viral win! This is the chance for anyone who's always enjoyed creating videos and multimedia experiences, to develop one that can change the global community.

Okay, here's how it works.

STEP 1: Create a team of up to two people, 16 years or older, including yourself. Oh, and here's a tip — it might be helpful to ask a teacher or business professional to mentor your team.
STEP 2: Register your team for the competition.
STEP 3: There are five sub-rounds. Submit your sub-round entry by the first day of each month, beginning in October 2011 and ending in March 2012. The final deadline to participate is February 8, 2012, 12:01 AM GMT.
STEP 4: At the conclusion of each sub-round, the top 20 videos with the most votes that have met the entry requirements will be advanced to Round 2.
STEP 5: Six finalist teams will receive a trip to New York City to compete in the Imagine Cup Worldwide Finals in July 2012.

The good stuff: cash prizes!

Cash prizes are to be shared equally among team members:

  • First Place: $8,000
  • Second Place: $4,000
  • Third Place: $3,000
